Usage notes

• (emperor of Russia): Officially, emperors after 1721 were styled imperator (импера́тор) rather than tsar (царь), but the latter term is still commonly applied to them.

• The term sometimes refers to other emperors, besides those of Russia, e.g. the monarch of Bulgaria (1908-1946).

• The spelling czar is most common one in the US, especially in figurative and informal senses. Scholarly literature prefers tsar.

Coffee Trivia

Coffee has initially been a food – chewed, not sipped. Early African tribes consume coffee by grinding the berries together, adding some animal fat, and rolling the treats into tiny edible energy balls.
