Thrips, n. Etym: [L., a woodworm, Gr. (Zoöl.)

Definition: Any one of numerous small species of Thysanoptera, especially those which attack useful plants, as the grain thrips (Thrips cerealium).

Note: The term is also popularly applied to various other small injurious insects.
