Staves"a`cre, n. Etym: [Corrupted from NL. staphis agria, Gr. (Bot.)

Definition: A kind of larkspur (Delphinium Staphysagria), and its seeds, which are violently purgative and emetic. They are used as a parasiticide, and in the East for poisoning fish.
