Sep"a*rate, v. t. [imp. & p. p. Separated (; p. pr. & vb. n. Separating.] Etym: [L. separatus, p. p. of separare to separate; pfref. se- aside + parare to make ready, prepare. See Parade, and cf. Sever.]
