PUNKA

Pun"ka, n. Etym: [Hind. pankha fan.]

Definition: A machine for fanning a room, usually a movable fanlike frame covered with canvas, and suspended from the ceiling. It is kept in motion by pulling a cord. [Hindostan] [Written also punkah.] Malcom.
