Di*vide", v. t. [imp. & p. p. Divided; p. pr. & vb. n. Dividing.] Etym: [L. dividere, divisum; di- = dis- + root signifying to part; cf. Skr. vyadh to pierce; perh. akin to L. vidua widow, and E. widow. Cf. Device, Devise.]
