Ant*o"zone, n. Etym: [Pref. anti- + ozone.] (Chem.)

Definition: A compound formerly supposed to be modification of oxygen, but now known to be hydrogen dioxide; -- so called because apparently antagonistic to ozone, converting it into ordinary oxygen.
