There are four varieties of commercially viable coffee: Arabica, Liberica, Excelsa, and Robusta. Growers predominantly plant the Arabica species. Although less popular, Robusta tastes slightly more bitter and contains more caffeine.

Tæ`ni*a"ta, n. pl. Etym: [NL., fr. L. taenia a ribbon.] (Zoöl.)
Definition: A division of Ctenophora including those which have a long, ribbonlike body. The Venus's girdle is the most familiar example.
