Sur*bed", v. t. [imp. & p. p. Surbedded; p. pr. & vb. n. Surbedding.] Etym: [Pref. sur- + bed.]

Definition: To set edgewise, as a stone; that is, to set it in a position different from that which it had in the quarry. It . . . has something of a grain parallel with the horizon, and therefore should not be surbedded. Gilbert White.
