Skit, v. t. Etym: [Prov. E. skitto slide, as adj., hasty,
precipitate, of Scand. origin, and akin to E. shoot, v.t.; cf. Icel.
skyti, skytja, skytta, a marksman, shooter, skjota to shoot, skuta a
