FURZE

Furze, n. Etym: [OE. firs, As. fyrs.] (Bot.)

Definition: A thorny evergreen shrub (Ulex Europæus), with beautiful yellow flowers, very common upon the plains and hills of Great Britain; -- called also gorse, and whin. The dwarf furze is Ulex nanus.
