ADVANCEMENT
Ad*vance"ment, n. Etym: [OE. avancement, F. avancement. See Advance,

1. The act of advancing, or the state of being advanced; progression;
improvement; furtherance; promotion to a higher place or dignity; as,
the advancement of learning.
